We have been working behind the scenes on a plan to harness the power of North Yorkshire businesses and communities to build sustainable and vibrant high streets for market towns – from the ground up.
Rural market towns are often overlooked when everyone is talking bout re-generating high streets, but these are the places where community is strong, but resources can be tight, so innovation and ‘just getting on and doing it‘ are key. This is exactly the approach we recommend!
Supported by David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire and funded by York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority via the Vibrant and Sustainable High Streets fund, we’ll be working alongside the good people of Knaresborough, Pickering and Malton/Norton on a pilot scheme to build a framework for other towns in the region. It’s big thinking for small towns.
There’s a lot to do, and we are buzzing!
